Hurricane Ivan UPDATE #6 - Long-term Care Bed Assistance
EOC-Tallahassee - The FHA has been in touch with the nursing home association to discuss the need for nursing home beds for patients. Florida Health Care Association has surveyed its members regarding nursing home bed availability throughout the state following Charley and Frances and in preparation for Ivan. Many nursing homes have left beds open for increased hospital admissions due to the frailties of citizens in the community. If hospitals are caring for persons who are in need of nursing home placement and would like more information about bed availability in their area, they can contact Debbie Afasano at FHCA, 850-224-3907, or dafasano@fhca.org
For those health care businesses/hospitals impacted by Hurricane Charley, the Small Business Association provides disaster assistance loans at 2.9% interest to those entities that are unable to obtain credit through commercial lenders. Information on disaster loans is available at http://www.sba.gov/disasterarea2/Fact-Sht-FL-3620-Amended-090704.pdf
