MEDIA ADVISORY
Tallahassee – The Florida Hospital Association (FHA) will be holding a press conference urging legislators “To Do No Harm” to Florida’s hospitals and support re-enactment of personal injury protection (PIP) coverage. According to an FHA report conducted last fall, the elimination of PIP coverage will result in a cost shift of more than $350 million from auto carriers to hospitals and health insurers. Hospital CEOs and emergency room physicians will explain how the loss of PIP coverage will impact hospitals and the communities they serve.
This new threat is in addition to the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ proposed $4 billion reduction in Florida’s low income pool (LIP) program and the President’s proposed Medicare/Medicaid cuts which total almost $100 billion.
