A Healthy Florida Works Releases Plan; Reaches 2014 Membership

The 2015 Legislative Session is fast-approaching and with it comes the opportunity for state lawmakers to use billions in available federal funding to extend health care coverage to uninsured Floridians.

The Florida Hospital Association joined A Healthy Florida Works (AHFW), a coalition of business leaders, chambers of commerce, statewide business organizations and concerned individuals, to lend our voice and push the Legislature to take action.

Recently, A Healthy Florida Works released a policy proposal that offers a framework for extending coverage. It is a new approach that blends best practices from programs adopted in other states along with innovative ideas to create a Florida-specific program. More detailed information about the plan can be found on the AHFW website.

State legislators, chambers of commerce, business owners and the health care community have already expressed support for the plan.

AHFW reached another milestone in December, surpassing 2014 membership recruitment goals. The coalition now boasts a membership of nearly 700 businesses and 100,000 individuals. This includes over 140 hospitals and health systems, leading statewide business organizations and 15 chamber of commerce. View the full membership online.
