FSCI Program Extended Until 2016

In  partnership with the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP), FHA is proud to announce the Florida Surgical Care Initiative (FSCI) Program has been extended until 2016 with no increase in the current annual enrollment fee and no change to the current data requirements. Florida Blue (BCBSF) will continue to provide FSCI support, including quality-based pay-for-performance in base hospital contracts. In addition, BCBSF will include FSCI/NSQIP as a quality initiative as they expand Accountable Care Organizations. Surgeons will also receive a Physician Quality Reporting System credit by CMS for participation in a qualified clinical registry. Hospitals have three data reporting options during the transition into the extended phase of the program:

Option 1: Continue with NSQIP FSCI

Option 2: Transition to full NSQIP

Option 3: Continue FSCI and report SSI outcome data via NHSN

Data reporting option details are available online. Current FSCI contracts are effective through March 2013. For more information on FSCI, contact Martha DeCastro, vice president of nursing at (850) 222-9800.
