Education for Physicians on End-of-Life Care (EPEC)

Many organizations have already initiated programs for improving care at the end of life. One program underway is the EPEC – Education for Physicians on End-of-Life Care. The EPEC program is a peer to peer clinical training program for physicians. The training program covers palliative care, ethical decision-making, symptom management, communication skills and psychosocial issues. The two-day train-the-trainer program includes a variety of instructional methods that will provide interactive practical training to take back to the organization. The EPEC curriculum was developed by the American Medical Association’s Institute for Ethics sponsored by a grant from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
