Improving patient safety and clinical performance is a focus of the FHA Mission to Care Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (MTC HIIN). Our goal is to reduce patient harm by 20 percent and readmissions by 12 percent by September 2018.
Ninety-five hospitals are working collaboratively through the FHA MTC HIIN, sharing and implementing strategies to reduce incidences of harm in eleven focus areas and readmissions. Resources, education and support are provided to help hospitals succeed.
Funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, this work builds off the Partnership for Patient's Hospital Engagement Network, which ran 2012-2016, preventing 31,000 cases of harm and avoiding almost $200 million in health care costs in Florida.
FHA MTC HIIN is part of the American Hospital Association's Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET) HIIN, which includes 31 states and almost 1,700 hospitals in America.
