HIIN Sprint: Priority Focus Areas

Hospitals are in the final sprint toward meeting the quality improvement goals set by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to reduce patient harm by 20 percent and readmissions by 12 percent before Sept. 27, 2018, the end of the original two-year Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) program. FHA Mission to Care HIIN hospitals continue to make progress in reducing patient harm in many areas, but there is still opportunity for improvement in six key areas: Surgical Site Infections-Colon, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Infection-Related Ventilator-Associated Complications (IVAC), Overall Sepsis Mortality, Falls and Readmissions. To continue efforts toward achieving these goals, FHA provides focus area-specific resources.
