Responding to a Crisis: An Overview of Lee Health's Response
When Hurricane Ian delivered its powerful punch to Southwest Florida in September 2022, Lee Health was directly in its path. The storm was the fifth strongest hurricane in Florida history and caused massive destruction to the community. This presentation documents the journey of Lee Health, a large non-profit health system, and includes dramatic visuals of the hurricane’s wreckage. You’ll learn how Lee Health weathered the storm while facing critical issues that threatened the safety of its patients and staff, the ingenuity used to face challenges and how it has recovered.
Dr. Larry Antonucci, President/CEO of Lee Health will present the strategy it used to prepare for the storm and how it responded in its aftermath, which can be applied in any natural disaster. This includes how to properly prepare for a disaster, using effective communications throughout a crisis and how to amplify your reputation by taking the right steps.
The presentation is a case study where participants will be encouraged to reflect on what they are hearing and asked to think about how the information applies to their own work environment. Learning objectives include:
